217 Brew Works is a 10 barrel production micro-brewery in a former livery stable and carriage house located across from the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson, NC.
217 Brew Works opened its doors on November 4, 2016; becoming the first and only craft brewery in Wilson County. Since opening, the brewery has experienced wonderful support and success thanks to the amazing Wilson community.
217 Brew Works’ home was used as a livery stable and carriage house from 1919 to 1934, later becoming a car dealership, and then functioned as an old warehouse. In 2015, the building was restored to its original glory with new roofs, front facades, and utility infrastructure upgrades.
The taproom interior was constructed primarily out of reclaimed bricks and wood to substantiate the feel of this old stable. The original red stable door is now featured at the entrance to the brewery and acts as a bulletin board to the community.
Another piece reclaimed from history is the antique door to the dispensing room, once used in the first refrigerated coolers of early 1900s, this antique door continues to keep cool in to this day.
Construction and installation of the brewery equipment was completed near the end of 2016.
217 Brew Works offers a substantial range of beers, from light ales to dark stouts, sublime red ales to hopped up IPA’s; there is something for every palate to enjoy.
We pride ourselves in using local ingredients to create great beers. Kandagadda and Vick’s Choice both feature sweet potatoes from Vick’s Farm in Wilson, NC. Queen’s Parlour and our summer seasonal Farmhouse Honeymoon feature honey from Dean’s Farm in Wilson, NC.
For those not yet of age, or lack preference, the brewery also offers handcrafted soda’s not found anywhere else. Currently serving a lemon lime ginger soda “RaddlerRock” and a custom root beer “ Contentnea Creek Water”.
In March of 2018, South Street Visions, 217 Brew Works, and Wilson Downtown Development were recognized by North Carolina Main Streets for best Building Reuse Program in the State.
